Restoring Transparency and Ethics to Government
One of the first and most critical tasks of Maine’s next governor will be to restore trust in an executive branch plagued by ethics scandals and a chronic lack of transparency. As Governor, I will take immediate action to:
Strengthen Maine’s ‘revolving door’ law by prohibiting all lobbying by former executive branch employees for three years – whether registered lobbyists or not.
Prohibit people from regulated industries joining executive regulatory agencies
Publish all Freedom of Access requests and the responses of government agencies.
Ensure the FOA officer in every department is a knowledgeable and ethical individual who is committed to following the law in timely fashion
